Snapchat selfie unmasked Pittsburgh killer, police say
  • Maxwell Marion Morton, 16
  • Auto-deletes content after a few seconds - to send an image to a friend
  • 16-year-old Ryan Mangan, was a classmate of Maxwell Marion Morton
  • Users are alerted when someone takes a screen capture of a message.

Maxwell Marion Morton, 16, was arrested on Friday in the killing of Ryan Mangan The suspect used Snapchat - an app that auto-deletes content after a few seconds - to send an image to a friend.

The friend took a screenshot and his mother contacted police. Prosecutors said the Snapchat was "key evidence".

"[Police] received a copy of the photo which depicted the victim sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to the face," a police affidavit states, according to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"It also depicts a black male taking the 'selfie,' with his face facing the camera and the victim behind the actor. The photo had the name 'Maxwell' across the top."

Google Maps: a decade of transforming the mapping landscape
  • World wide web supported the first online maps in 1993
  • In 2004, Danish brothers Lars and Jens Eilstrup Rasmussen went to Google with an idea for a web app that would not only display static maps
  • 50 people set out building Google Maps
  • Google Maps launched in the US on 8 February 2005
  • 2005 Google launched driving and public transport directions
Google Maps
Google Maps didn’t stand still. Later in 2005 Google launched driving and public transport directions, but it wasn’t until the launch of satellite imagery that Hanke saw how committed Google was to the project.

Googles maps have always been unreliable in my eyes. John Hanke, co-founder of Keyhole and vice president of Google’s geospatial division until 2011 told the Guardian. Google’s co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, he said, thought that geospatial – data and information related to maps and location services - was a key element of Google’s organising the world’s information.

Revenge porn victims’ helpline launched in UK

  • Can affect people as young as 11
  • A helpline for victims of revenge porn has been launched as part of a concerted push to tackle the growing problem of explicit photographs being shared online without the victim’s consent.
  • Hundreds of sites dedicated to non-consensual porn throughout the world
  • 30 sites “specialised” in revenge porn content used in the UK alone.
  • 43 UK police forces were asked for details of reported incidents of revenge pornography between 1 January 2012 and 1 July 2014
The revenge porn helpline will work with police and websites to try and get non-consensual explicit photos removed and provide victims with help about how to get free legal advice. It will work with other services, such as Women’s Aid, the Stalking Helpline or Relate, so that victims know where they can turn if they need more help.

I think personally revenge porn helplines will recover some of the damage dealt by these videos and images posted online. Something that should have been in place along time ago, many people who have suffered from revenge porn have often lead to suicidal acts.

Yasmin

The clip does offers a partly negative representations it shows one of the characters being very uncivilized where he is eating peanut butter directly out of the jar and also his dirty clothing. Similarly the clear disrespect shown by the main character towards her religion can provide a negative representation of Muslims as she takes off her hijab.

In contrast it can be argued that the main character provides us with a very identifiable character as she tries to break free from her religious barriers and be a part of western society.

Who, What, Why: How does Google's Autocomplete censor predictions?

  •  Recruited more than 1,000 people from the UK to fight for it.
  • But Google, alerted to the Autocomplete options by the BBC, had by 1030 GMT removed "isis" as one of the suggestions
  • The fourth suggestion was "isis".
Google searchPredictions are based upon various factors, these include location, general search preferences) e (popluar searches). Isis is known as a highly effective user of social media, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, with which it spreads its messages and disseminates pictures  videos, encouraging its followers to do the same.

I think that the removal of this autocomplete prediction is a good move by Google but should have censored it in good time so the people wanting to join ISIS would be much lower. Google have influenced and partial to blame for the ISIS attacks due to the promotion of how to join the Islamic group. Think they should take this as a warning to block any other related searches like terror attacks like YouTube have done.

3) Watch Destiny Ekaragha's clips above (more of her work is available on her website, including the short film The Park). To what extent can we apply Alvarado's and Fanon's theories to these films? Do they reinforce or subvert typical black stereotypes in British film and TV? Refer to specific scenes and events in the clips in answering this question and aim for at least 350 words.

Black people are stereotyped in some sense to be dangerous in the film The Park, when 2 white men walked past the group of blacks on the wall they came across to be very negative and threatening commenting on the way he looks. May not be directly dangerous but has an obvious representation that theyre can be violent if they wanted to.

Also theyre seemed to be
